The perfume industry tends to identify summer scents as those with fruity notes - or light florals - cologne style scents.
I prefer something that really cools me down. Albaura, in the Kingdom Scotland debut collection, is a gender inclusive scent just perfect for those warm British sunny days.
Albaura is a scent inspired by the life and works of the Arctic Explorer and Scottish Botanist - Isobel Wylie Hutchison. She was a woman ahead of her time - born in 1889 in Kirkliston close to Edinburgh, Scotland. She travelled alone in a time with no Northface or merino wool - with no maps or translator. She hitched rides on expeditions and international boats. She was bold, determined yet gentle and loved the silence the arctic landscape provided.
She inspired me, I love her fearless spirit of adventure with the natural world, so I made a scent in her honour.
Albaura eau de parfum is a unisex perfume. It opens with an icy, glacial freshness. Iced botanicals and sharp artic berries. Then it reveals a more sophisticated floral heart - representing the arctic poppy that Isobel loved. This is the yellow wild poppy we often see in Scotland - in fact I saw some today on a daily walk in the gardens. The base is a plant based ambergris musk with a beautiful cedarwood absolute and rock mosses. Beautiful, bold, fresh, ice - and the perfect scent for cooling down on a warm late Spring day.
